Chocolate Hills

This is one of my few shots of the famous Chocolate Hills in Bohol. If they were real Hershey's Kisses, I'd be the happiest girl on earth :)

I See Better Days.. :)

I'm setting this sunset photo apart from the ones I posted earlier. More than tranquility, this picture offers hope for a brighter tomorrow. The bright blue sky against the raging sun before it succumbs to hide below the horizon plays a perfect ending to a tiring but meaningful day. A promise of better days to come. :)

Photo taken in Bridge II (that's what our tour guide calls it.hehe) in Bohol after a very tiring day. Glad we stopped at this place to capture this magnificent hand of God at work. :)

Tsinelas

I took this photo while I was waiting for the sun to set in Manila Bay. With 0.3 of a second, I was able to blur the water enough to give it a more classic effect.

Seize the moment

This photo was taken by a friend of mine while I was capturing sunset photo in Bohol. I did the editing and gave it a more dramatic effect. Take note this was taken by a point and shoot camera and not in RAW. The grainy and shadow effect adds up to the depth the photo was trying to convey. Photography being a passion, you have to seize the moment.. for one might only last for a minute like this beautiful sunset.

Baclayon Church

This is the first architectural photo that I had uploaded. Taken in Bohol, it is one of the famous tourist destination for being one of the oldest church in the Philippines having been built in 1727. I love shooting old buildings, it gives me a sense of being part of their history.

Bohol Nightscape

Back to my favorite spot in Bohol shooting a nightscape. With 15 seconds exposure and ISO 100. It is a sight to behold and I don't mind going back and shooting hundred photos more.

Extraordinary Mundane

Few days before going back to Canada, I figured I'll have to make the most out of the hot weather here in the Philippines in terms of IR shooting. So off we go to a quiet place where a shooting permit is not needed, Manila American Cemetery and Memorial. Now, that's literally peaceful. :)

Crater Lake

This was another IR shot I took of the Mt. Pinatubo Crater with 9 minutes exposure and an ISO speed of 200.

Sunset Skyline

Taken in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. This photo encompasses the beauty of sunset in the Philippines. The intense red and orange hues of the sky are caused by scattering of sunlight by air molecules and small particles in the Earth's atmosphere. This being vividly reflected in the body of water below it gives the ocean more depth and mystery.

Water of Paradise

Shot under the blazing sun, so far this is my favorite landscape photo. The bright blue sky and the calmness of the sea is a picturesque tale of unending freedom and tranquility in the sea of paradise, a paradigm of Life in Stillness.

Photo taken in Maribojoc, Bohol.

Serenity

What's the beauty in sunset? It's the serenity that lies in darkness.

Photo taken in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

Being so frustrated with how our Cebu-Bohol trip was going, having all the tricycle and taxi drivers wanting to overcharge us. We end up spending our first afternoon in Bohol eating banana-que with coke while having our own city stroll. It wasn't too bad after all because our feet lead us to this spot where sunset is very imminent and perfect for shooting. This place then became my favorite spot in Bohol.. a.k.a "Ang lugar na binabalik-balikan." :)

Taken with a GND filter, with 25th of a second exposure, ISO 100.

Mt. Pinatubo Crater

After a major fail to produce a correct custom white balance during my Cebu-Bohol trip, I was so eager to do some IR shot with my next trip which was a trek to the Mt. Pinatubo crater. I helplessly created my custom white balance under a cloudy day with 90 seconds exposure in between the 1 hour trek. The Mt. Pinatubo crater was a sight to behold and is perfect as it is. However, since I am so engaged with IR shooting lately, I got hold of my camera, tripod, remote cable, and IR filter and took a shot. This was taken at around 12:30PM with 3 minutes and a half exposure under 250 ISO.

So what does it take to have a great photo? Patience.. Passion.. and a shirt sleeve tan-line :)

Greenbelt, Makati

Another IR shot of Greenbelt, Makati from the 2nd floor veranda. With 30 seconds exposure and 400 ISO speed.

Taking another step to my journey to photography.

My first IR photo taken at Greenbelt, Makati with 30 seconds exposure. Literally took me hours post processing to correct the hot spot.

LIFE in Stillness..

I have been an amateur photographer for a year now. I started using my first DSLR (Canon EOS 450D) August of last year. I know a little about photo and movie editing but I never really had a formal education about how to manipulate a DSLR except for the CD which came with the camera that I watched. I then decided to upgrade to a Canon EOS 7D when hobby started to become a passion. I have learned and is still learning a lot about my new found passion. :)

What takes a great photo? Patience, passion, and a heart to put LIFE in stillness.
